AIG Yahaya S. Abubakar Assumes Duty at Zone 14, Katsina

In a recent development, AIG Yahaya S. Abubakar, mni, has officially taken charge at Zone 14, Headquarters, Katsina, encompassing Kaduna and Katsina States Police Commands. 

Appointed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, AIG Yahaya S. Abubakar assumed duty on Wednesday, 29th November 2023.

The newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police brings a wealth of experience to Zone 14. Hailing from Uba Town in Hong LGA of Adamawa State, he is a Member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, and holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB. Hons) Degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. 

His career spans back to May 1992 when he enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a member of Cadet ASP Course 17.

AIG Yahaya S. Abubakar's distinguished career includes pivotal roles such as Asst. Inspector-General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi-Lagos), AIG Zone 15 Headquarters, Maiduguri, and Commissioner of Police, Yobe State.

Notably, he has served in two International Peace-Keeping Missions, contributing to the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) as a Senior Police Adviser to the Somali National Police.

AIG Yahaya S. Abubakar is a member of various professional bodies, including the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (mni), Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (FCIPAN), Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria (FIMCN), and holds the title of a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). His outstanding service has earned him several awards and commendations both domestically and internationally.

In a statement, the new AIG encourages the public and stakeholders in the Security Sector to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace and security in the Zone. 

He emphasizes the need for inter-agency cooperation to address emerging security challenges in Kaduna and Katsina States. 

AIG Yahaya S. Abubakar assures the public that any crime-related information provided will be handled with utmost confidentiality to protect the sources.
